Our services

Our scope falls into five thematic areas. Work can be commissioned as a whole or taken one phase at a time — or handed over entirely, as an operations consulting engagement.

Theme 1

Process Engineering and Operations Management

Design, engineering, optimisation, resourcing and maintenance, all characterised by sustainability and lean principles, to maximise expected outcomes.

Process and operations design and engineering

We design your processes and operations from scratch to industry best standards. Where a process already exists, we can redesign or re-engineer it using our optimisation tools and techniques. Our designs are built to compete with international ones on output and efficiency, without compromising safety, health or environmental performance.

Process and operations optimisation

We audit processes and operations using standard industry tools, and where applicable model them numerically to optimise them. An optimised process has reduced or no wastage, lower operating costs, and maximised output and profit.

Resource planning

We plan, develop and deploy the resources a process needs, people included, so that capacity matches demand rather than trailing it. Capital and operational budgets are built for project work and for day-to-day running, which gives you a basis for resourcing decisions other than last month's spend.

Plant and equipment maintenance

We keep plant and equipment available, reliable and producing what they were specified to produce: throughput and product yields, consistent product quality, improved uptime, and compliance on safety and environment. Maintenance is planned and preventive, applied to processes, unit operations and their critical equipment on an inspect, plan, execute, review and act cycle.

Project and operations management

Management is a matter of organisation, functions, systems and procedures. We apply project management tools and techniques to live projects and to the day-to-day business alike: organising the business functions, understudying the systems, procedures and work methods already in use so that they can be standardised, and writing new ones where none exist.

Theme 2

Environmental Engineering and Management

A wealth of experience in waste management, pollution control and environmental management systems.

Environmental engineering services

  • Waste management systems and technologies for municipal solid waste and industrial waste, including chemical, hazardous, infectious, NORM and radioactive, and asbestos streams — landfill, incineration, pyrolysis and bioremediation
  • Air pollution control, including flue gas and particulates cleaning
  • Water pollution control and treatment technologies: filtration and sorption, ion exchange, oil interceptors and separators, primary treatment, biological treatment and sludge treatment
  • Contaminated soils and solids treatment
  • Decommissioning and site remediation
  • Landfill and contaminated land reclamation

Environmental compliance and management

  • Environmental Impact Assessment, including scoping report, Environmental Impact Statement and full EIA report
  • Environmental quality monitoring and assessment
  • Annual environmental reports
  • Environmental Management Plans, including Preliminary Environmental Reports
  • Environmental management systems to ISO 14001:2015
  • Environmental audits

We treat management documents as working documents. Getting stakeholders to participate actively in meeting your Environmental Management Plan commitments matters more than the report itself, so we provide awareness training and support for site personnel, and set out actionable strategies, roadmaps and a tracking register so commitments are implemented rather than filed.

Theme 3

Energy Engineering and Management

Energy use efficiency and sustainability drive this area of our work.

We select energy systems that meet your demand today, while recognising that a business only sustains itself by gradually integrating alternative sources and switching to greener, low-carbon technologies. We therefore adopt a phased approach to replacing carbon-intensive sources with renewable and low-carbon ones, rather than asking clients to change everything at once.

Energy systems we work with

  • Solar photovoltaic technology
  • Synthesis gas from thermal processing of biomass, including pyrolysis and gasification
  • Biogas from biomass
  • Liquid biofuels, including bioethanol and biodiesel
  • Waste-to-energy technology
Theme 4

Process Safety and Loss Prevention

Internationally recognised, widely proven safety standards and tools, applied with the goal of preventing loss to life, resources and property.

  • Hazard analysis, assessment and risk management: HAZID, HIRA, HAZOP, FMEA, RMP, ETA, FTA and HRA
  • Fire safety and protection: fire and explosion analysis, fire certificates, and the design of protection systems and plans
  • Radiation protection and safety
  • Human factors engineering and management
  • Safety management systems to ISO 45001:2018
  • Safety audits
Theme 5

Technical and Training Services

General and specialised consultancy across every area above.

  • Preparation and review of operating procedures and workflows
  • Preparation of management plans, systems and related documents
  • Design and coordination of database and operations management systems, including computer-aided systems and software
  • Specialised training in process design, simulation and optimisation using ASPEN HYSYS and ANSYS FLUENT
  • Training in operations management, health, safety, security and environment, and quality improvement through Lean Six Sigma
All five themes, one engagement

Business Operations Consulting

The full range of services above, packaged for the day-to-day management of your business or project.

Under an operations consulting engagement ENVISOL manages the business operations end to end, to the objectives you set. It suits an owner who has a plant or a project to run and would rather hold one firm to an outcome than assemble the disciplines themselves.

We are results oriented, so the work starts from your vision and goals rather than from a standard template, and the solution is built to exceed them, or at the very least meet them. Before we propose how any of the services above apply to your business, we establish three things.

What we establish first

  • Engaging the business owners or directors, to understand their goals and vision for the organisation
  • A thorough study of the business model, organisational structure, business functions, workflows, operations planning and resourcing
  • A review of project and operational reports — daily, weekly and monthly

Not sure which of these you need?

Describe the problem and we will tell you what the scope should be and how to phase it.
